DESCRIPTION:
Rotary Platform Double
Rotary Platform Double - One of the methods used for determination of abrasion resistance of textile materials or coated fabrics is the rotary platform method.
In this test a test specimen is abraded using rotary rubbing action.
The test specimen is mounted on a horizontal circular platform and rotates at a specified speed.
Two abrasive wheels are made to rest on the upper surface of the test specimen on either side of its centre.
The wheels rotate because of friction between them and the test specimen, thus causing abrasion to take place.
The wheels are loaded to apply the desired contact force.
Abrasion resistance of the test specimen is evaluated either by finding the degree of abrasion after a specified number of rotations of the test specimen, or by determining the number of rotations needed to produce a specified degree of abrasion.
